BENEFITS OF NUEROMODULATION AND NEUROFEEDBACK

Sharpen focus

The pressures of life in Silicon Valley can make sustaining attention challenging or exacerbate existing difficulties. You may identify as having ADHD, or you may just struggle sometimes to focus and stay on task. Regardless of which label you prefer, neuromodulation and neurofeedback can relieve these symptoms.

Conditioning's role in attentional challenges

Physician and author Gabor Maté proposes that ADHD stems from environmental and psychological influences during childhood, emphasizing trauma, stress, and adverse experiences. He advocates for addressing these root causes rather than relying solely on medication, emphasizing the importance of intervention and support for children with ADHD-like symptoms.

At Bay Area Peak Performance, we don't treat ADHD. Instead, we identify the conditioned patterns of brain activity that may be responsible for your symptoms, and we help you develop more effective patters to overcome these limitations. There are several common patterns impacting focus and concentration, and they can all be addressed with brain training.

In some cases, environmental triggers or metabolic issues may be the root cause, in which case we may recommend additional testing and follow up with a medical specialist.

Our goal is to tune up your brain so you can flex up to focus and concentrate when needed, but also flex down to relax and enter a more creative zone.

Common patterns impacting focus

Excessive daydreaming

Excess slowing, often in the theta range and shown as a high theta/beta ratio, suggests excessive daydreaming and difficulty in maintaining concentration. Neuromodulation and neurofeedback are exceptionally effective at restoring a healthy balance, typically by stimulating or enhancing low beta activity.

Hyperactivity

Frontal beta spindles can lead to hyperactivity and distractibility. We address this in a similar way, but with a slower compensatory frequency.

Poor information flow

An attenuated frontal P300 response affects executive function, inhibiting efficient information flow to the executive center of the brain. Addressing this requires a customized approach, tailored to individual cases.
